The American Generals
Horatio Gates, was a general of the Revolutionary War. He lead his men into many battles. Some of the battles were the French and Indian War, the Revolutionary War and the Battle of Saratoga. Gates was nominated general by the Continental Congress. Horatio also helped George Washington assemble the Continental Army. Although General Gates lead his troop to war people knew him as the man with little to no courage.
General Nathaniel Greene, was a Quaker farmer and used to teach himself the subjects for schooling. Later on in Greens early adult age he met a lady named Catherine Greene and married her in 1774. General Greene was assigned in command by George Washington and was led into many battles and wars with his troop. Greene is known for being a huge General of the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. HE alter died in 1786 from a stroke.
William Heath, when he was in his young ages was a farmer a few years later he became a soldier after that he grew wiser and became a political leader. William was born in Massachusetts and later participated in the Massachusetts Militia. William Heath participated in many battles and these were many of them, Battle of Lexington , Battle of Concord, Battle of Long Island, Battle of Trenton, and the Battle of Saratoga. Heath died at the age of 77 years old in the town of Heath , Massachusetts which was named after him.
General Henry Knox was one of the youngest General. Henry was born on July 25 1750 in Boston Massachusetts. his father died in 1759 leaving Henry's childhood and teenage life without a father. Henry got thrown into gangs and tossed around when he was in his teenage years. That was then that Henry taught himself how to fight and then he grew a interest for fighting and he decided to join the military. The battles Henry fought in were Battle of Lexington and Concord, and the Battle of Bunker hill. During the Boston Tea Party Henry knew that he was solidly on the Americans side. General Henry Knox died on October 25, 1805.
